Highlights of Dorenda’s Story
Dorenda Washington believes that open doors create opportunities for pastors and Kingdom leaders to receive high-quality theological education and meaningful ministry preparation. Through a collaborative effort between ºÚÁÏÉçÇø and Florida Memorial University, she found one of those open doors.
As a student in the Master of Divinity program at ºÚÁÏÉçÇø, Dorenda is receiving accredited theological training from experienced, credentialed instructors who are actively engaged in ministry. She describes the education as rigorous, relevant, and deeply rooted in Scripture.
Through the Lift Every Voice program, Dorenda has gained a deeper understanding of African-American history and the sacrifices made by those who fought for equal access to education and opportunity. She values the diversity of the classroom, where students from different backgrounds and cultures study God’s Word together.
After being out of school for nearly 20 years, Dorenda once believed returning to higher education would be impossible. Today, she encourages others not to wait. With faculty support, mentorship, and a Christ-centered academic environment, she feels equipped, confident, and prepared to sharpen her skills for ministry.
Dorenda believes that God’s Kingdom is glorified when leaders are properly trained and spiritually grounded — and she invites others to step through the doors that are now open.
